Lando Norris’ contract at McLaren runs until the end of 2025, and there is no doubt that rivals are keeping an eye on the young Brit. Woking team leader Zak Brown admits Lando could have left McLaren if results in the second half of the season had not improved greatly thanks to improvements to the car.
Zac Brown: “If we kept performing the way we performed at the beginning of the year, if I was Lando I wouldn’t want to play for us.
Lando is the racer everyone wants. No one knows how many more years Lewis Hamilton will compete, and what Mercedes will do next. How many years will Sergio Perez compete?
I have no doubt that the three leading teams do not yet know what their composition will be after 2025. With Lando’s performance, there is no doubt that he is at the top of any team’s list of prospects.”
Zak Brown is confident Lando Norris will decide to continue his career at McLaren after his current contract expires: “There is nothing we won’t have in 2026 compared to our rivals. Lando feels very comfortable and has a good relationship with his partner.
I think there are four or five teams that could be in a winning position in 2026, and we are certainly on that list.”
