Next year, AlphaTauri will change its status again and, after its “subsidiary” and “sister” team, become a customer team for Red Bull Racing.
Many in this situation are concerned that the client team, within tight budget constraints, can do some research for the most important ones within their budget, receiving most of the nodes from the senior team.
Ferrari team leader Frederic Vasseur is concerned about this problem, but thinks the FIA can get the situation under control…
Frédéric Vasseur: “It is important to monitor how teams collaborate with their customers. I believe that when two teams belong to the same company, like Red Bull and AlphaTauri, it is wrong. But so far the FIA has been able to deal with this well, and I am sure it will continue to do so in the future.
Given the stability of the regulations, the density of results will increase. As the season progressed, Red Bull’s lead shrank. If the balance of power had been the same all season as it was in the last two or three races, it is unlikely they would have been able to win 21 Grand Prix.
But let’s see what happens next year. I don’t want to think about Red Bull, we already have enough to worry about.”
