Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone publishes a Christmas card at the end of every year, in which he humorously describes the most memorable events of the past season.
2023 was no exception, but this time Bernie deviated a bit from his style. Instead of a cheerful image, the card shows a pastoral winter landscape and the message: “I’m sorry I couldn’t remember anything interesting or strange that happened this year that could be illustrated in my usual card.
I wish you a peaceful and happy end of the year. May 2024 bring you only good things and a more settled world. Bernie.”
In 2007 the reason for the Christmas card was the espionage scandal, in 2008 – the scandal with Max Mosley, in 2009 – the departure of BMW, in 2010 – the confrontation between the Red Bull Racing drivers, in 2011 – numerous incidents between Hamilton and Massa , in 2012 – Hamilton’s transfer from McLaren to Mercedes, in 2013 – the signing of the Agreement of Concord, in 2014 – numerous trials of Bernie, in 2015 – Hamilton’s early title, in 2016 – the situation on the podium of the Mexican Grand Prix , in 2017 – Chase Carey’s attempts to organize several Grand Prix in the United States.
In 2018, the postcard was dedicated to behind-the-scenes meetings of team leaders, in 2019 – to Sebastian Vettel’s fine during the Canadian Grand Prix, in 2020 – to Bernie’s fatherhood, in 2021 – to the fight for equality, and in 2022, the postcard was dedicated to the memory of Dietrich Mateschitz.
