Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Eclestone have been charged with fraud over $400 million, according to the Daily Mail.
The charge against the 91-year-old civil servant was sanctioned by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on Monday following an investigation by the Revenue and Customs Service (HMRC). He is accused of having provided false information about his assets abroad in excess of 400 million pounds (about 472 million euros).
“HMRC is on the side of honest taxpayers and we will take tough action if we suspect tax evasion. Our message is clear: no one is beyond our reach,” said Simon York, Director of Fraud Investigations.
The case will be heard for the first time in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 22.
