Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner will not check racers’ compliance with the ban on wearing jewelry or the mandatory use of fireproof underwear – and has not yet spoken to new FIA race director Niels Wittich.
On the first occasion, Christian Horner simply laughed it off: “I will absolutely not check our riders’ underwear for compliance. This is probably the team manager’s job, although I’m sure our riders will go to Commando. So it shouldn’t be a problem for them.
I haven’t met the new race director yet. The FIA is doing everything it can to comply with the rules we have. I understand that the pilots briefing with the race director about the jewelry was more of an entertainment character. However, in the interest of weight reduction, it doesn’t matter what the riders take off – jewelry or underwear, it will help us in any case. †
