We have repeatedly talked about Valtteri Bottas’ passion for cycling, and over time this great way to maintain excellent physical condition has turned into something more, because the Finn rides on gravel paths all year round in different countries and continents.
In addition, he is now organizing a cycling race together with his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell, a professional cyclist: from January 18 to 20, a race called RADL GRVL will be held in her native Australia, near Adelaide. Of course, he himself regularly takes part in such races in the breaks between the Grand Prix and otherwise shows good results, although he competes with professionals.
But in 2024 he decided to set himself an even more serious goal.
“I’m going to try to qualify for the gravel cycling world championship,” Bottas told the cycling podcast Bobby & Jens. Of course we are only talking about individual stages, Valtteri in particular has already planned to go to the start of the cycling race in Belgium, which will be held on October 5 and 6 next year.
Athletes from different age categories will take part in the UCI Gravel World Championships, and as Bottas turns 35 next August, if he successfully passes the qualifying phase he could start in the 35-39 year old group.
