The Italian team Isotta Fraschini is, among other things, in the Hypercar category on the list of participants for the World Endurance Championship 2024. We wrote a year ago that this once famous brand, whose mention for decades only in literature, including domestic literature, was revived blown in.
It is true that, as often happens, not all the plans of the new owners of the brand and the people invited to this project could be implemented in time, especially in the past year things have not gone beyond the tests of the Tipo 6 LMH-C sports prototype, and the car has not yet been raced.
Isotta Fraschini has recently acquired a new partner, the French team Duqueine Engineering, which competes in the European Le Mans series, and business relations with the British Vector Sport have ended.
This week the team tested for two days at the Portuguese circuit of Estoril. Mexican Alex Garcia and Frenchman Jean-Carl Vernet covered more than 1,200 km in two days, mainly working on race pace.
“I’m very happy because the opportunity to test this car for me is like Christmas coming early!” – said Garcia, the current ELMS champion in the LMP3 category. “I dreamed of seeing this car in real life, and driving such a hypercar, which embodies all modern technologies, is generally amazing. We did a lot of laps to get used to the car and all its systems, but everything works quite smoothly.”
Claudio Berro, head of racing programs at Isotta Fraschini, added: “I am very pleased with the first tests carried out with Duqueine Engineering. Also, Alex Garcia drove a hypercar for the first time and behaved very professionally, and Jean-Carl helped him.
During two days of testing at the Portuguese circuit we completed a number of long series of laps during which the car performed perfectly. This allowed us to collect a lot of information about the tires and settings.”
Isotta Fraschini will make his WEC debut during the first round of the season in Qatar, which will be held on March 2.
