Brundle: Monaco must be on the calendar

After much doubt and after the organizers met a number of conditions, Formula 1 extended the contract for the Monaco Grand Prix until 2025, meaning negotiations will start again soon.

Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sport F1 commentator Martin Brundle believes that despite the shift in status of the most elite stage towards Miami and Las Vegas, the stage in the Principality should be retained.

Martin Brundle: “Today there are many jewels in the crown of Formula 1. When I was racing there was only one pearl: Monaco, and now there are such incredible places on the calendar as Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Bahrain, Miami and Vegas.

I think there should be a balance between new and historic tracks. Formula 1 has a 73-year history and you can create as many new circuits as you want, but it will take a long time before they become as legendary as Spa, Monza, Suzuka, Silverstone and Monaco. There should always be a place for them on the calendar.

Sometimes rain or a safety car liven up the race in Monaco, which is often boring there, but how interesting is qualifying in the Principality!”
