Ralf Schumacher: Mick should act more selfishly

In Austria, Mick Schumacher performed very confidently, finishing sixth in Sunday’s Grand Prix – for German driver Haas this is the best result so far in a season and a half in Formula 1. In addition, he again surpassed Kevin Magnussen, his more experienced partner , although until recently it was difficult for him to compete with Dane.

Ralf Schumacher, a former racing driver who now works as an expert for German TV channels, believes that duels with Kevin Meek will show more and more selfishness.

“It is clear that his form is improving. This is not the first weekend that everything has finally gone smoothly for Mick, – said Ralph in the broadcast of TV channel Sport1. I didn’t expect such speeds from them in Spielberg.”

Speaking on another TV channel, Sky Deutschland, Schumacher suggested that Haas would be announcing a contract extension with Mick soon: “The team’s confidence in their rider will only get stronger now, because Mick has already believed in himself. In theory, Haas should soon decide on the prospects for working with him, it’s only a matter of time.

I wouldn’t say that Mick is already Haas’ number 1 driver, but I think he deserves a lot of respect from the team. And not only because he is already ahead of Kevin, but also because he had a nice duel with Lewis Hamilton in Austria, in which Mick showed himself very competently.

He spent the Austrian Grand Prix really really well. I hope Haas F1 head Günther Steiner has noticed this too. I think they should extend the contracts of both riders.

As for Mick’s duel with Magnussen, Mick should start acting more selfish at some point, if Kevin didn’t realize it already. The relationship between partners is like a pendulum swinging back and forth, but I’m glad they hugged after the race. The bottom line is that the partner is always the first person you want to beat on the job, so you can’t have a real friendship with him.

In Austria, Mick Schumacher caught the eye of everyone with confident handling and good overtaking, and was voted “Driver of the Day” by fans.
