Mick Schumacher is pleased with how the new season is going and is looking forward to the Imola race with optimism…
Q: Ahead of the fourth stage of the season, the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Last year you finished 16th in a race in mixed weather. Does this track match the new VF-22, what are the advantages over rivals?
Mick Schumacher: I really like the Imola circuit, I’ve done a lot of laps there and I’m looking forward to trying it out behind the wheel of a new car. I hope the result will be good.
Q: In Imola, riders are usually very active in attacking the curbs. Is this possible with new cars?
Mick Schumacher: I think we’re going to use less curbs this year than before. But riders and teams will definitely find an opportunity to attack them, I hope we will too.
Ask Ahead of the first weekend with a sprint this season. What do you think of the new rules – now the riders get points for finishing in eighth place and above? Will we see more battle?
Mick Schumacher: Everything is fine with the car, just put everything together over the weekend. We have ideas how to deal with it, I hope for a successful weekend.
Q: Formula 1 announced last month that Imola would run until 2025. With the addition of new stages to the calendar, is it still important to ride stages on historic circuits?
Mick Schumacher: I think it’s very important to keep racing on historic tracks. I hope that there will soon be several races on German circuits on the calendar, which are now very lacking.
