Russian racing driver Nikita Mazepin in an interview with , he said he wouldn’t like to spend time playing video games at the expense of real racing.
Mazepin took second place in the sixth stage of the Silk Way rally-raid in the all-terrain vehicle (T3) category. Mazepin, playing for the SNAG Racing team, showed the result of 6 hours 21 minutes 26 seconds. He lost over eight minutes to G-Drive Motorace winner Anastasia Nifontova. Third place was taken by Sergey Karjakin (SNAG Racing; +13.48).
The length of the marathon stage from Grozny to Elista was almost 545 km, the special 485 km. The “Silk Way” rally-raid will end in Moscow on July 16.
— There are a lot of older riders in the rally-raids. Do you admit that you will perform until 60-65 for fun?
– Age is above all experience, especially in the job of navigator. I have a life, just like you, and I would like to do what I love and what makes me happy. And I never liked lying on the couch and playing a PlayStation in a simulator. And I don’t think I’ll ever like it in the future.
So if off-road racing continues to give me pleasure, which I bet on, then why not? If I go through physical dimensions and get in the car… There’s no age limit in this sport (laughs).
