Daniel Ricciardo admitted that after returning to Formula 1 as an AlphaTauri driver, he had to reconsider his priorities, and now racing takes the most important place in his life.
“Certainly, I had to give up a lot – of course we are talking about things that have nothing to do with racing,” the championship’s official website quotes the Australian as saying. – I have some other interests outside of sports and I enjoy working on these projects, but I’ve kept everything to a minimum.
Obviously I want to make racing a priority, but it always has been that way. Considering that the championship calendar is very busy and the schedule is very tight, if I have free time I will train in the gym or just relax, to recover for the next race.
I think it’s just a matter of setting priorities, this is all the more important now that Formula 1 is developing so quickly. There’s so much going on that it’s easy to get caught up.
There are so many things you can do in life, and it’s all interesting, it’s really fun, and of course I like it. But when I had a lot of free time at the beginning of the year, I realized that I was probably doing too many things sometimes, maybe even to the detriment of staying fit, recuperating, etc. In general, now I just try to pay maximum attention to it .
Daniel Ricciardo will continue to drive for AlphaTauri in 2024. Last season he completed seven races with the team, earning six points. Without the injury to his left hand that he suffered during training in Zandvoort, the results would probably have been higher, as he had to miss five stages. Thanks to its contribution to the common cause, AlphaTauri achieved at least 8th place in the constructors’ championship, ahead of Alfa Romeo and Haas.
