AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer thinks that new team boss Laurent Mekies will make it possible to take a big step forward in the near future.
Peter Bayer: “Laurent made the decision about Ferrari’s pit wall for a long time. He’s well connected, he knows everyone. This is his strong point and his daily task is to manage the activities on the track as team leader.
He and I will be sort of sparring partners. We challenge each other, work together and support each other. Given the complexity of current Formula 1, two heads with different experiences are better than one. And this is our strong point. I think this is the ideal solution for us.
We have already discussed the sporting and technical aspects. Financial regulations deserve special attention, I believe that a lot can be achieved here if you understand the rules properly. And I think we both have a very good understanding of the financial rules and challenges that lie ahead.
Our team has an important advantage: we are extremely efficient. And the structure that Franz Tost built is astonishing from a performance point of view. Now we want to get better results from her.”
