James Vowles joined Williams early last year, when all work on the new car had already been completed. However, under the leadership of the British specialist, the team made progress and finished the season in seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Alex Albon believes that in 2024 the influence of James Vowles’ work will be fully reflected in Williams’ results.
“To be completely honest, James has improved the car a lot,” says Alex. – It takes us quite a while to build the machines. The team tries to move forward with big steps instead of small ones, so we don’t bring little new things every weekend like the top teams do, because we still have a lot to do.
James has a similar approach. Given that he has hired specialists and built the team structure, we won’t be able to fully assess his influence on Williams until 2024. Of course, he has already given us a lot, allowing us to implement small technical things such as working with tires, understanding the characteristics of the engine and aerodynamics.
We can still do a lot, so we expect the biggest steps forward in 2024 and beyond. I’m very sure of that.”
