Former Formula 1 driver Eddie Irvine doubts whether Lewis Hamilton will ever win an eighth world title.
“The era of triumph for Hamilton and Mercedes is over,” says Eddie Irvine in La Gazzetta Dello Sport. “But Lewis is still a very good driver who is focused on his goals and ready to achieve results.
Lewis is still very good behind the wheel of Formula 1, although I can hardly compare him to Verstappen. Max is younger, faster and has enormous confidence in his own abilities.
If Toto Wolff’s team builds a fast car again, Lewis will undoubtedly win another race or more, something he has failed to do in the past two seasons. Thanks to his experience, he knows how to make the most of every opportunity in qualifying and in the race. However, I doubt whether Hamilton can become champion again and realize his dream of an eighth title.”
