In 2024, Valentino Rossi, the legendary Italian motorcycle racer, will continue his career in the World Endurance Championship, where he will compete for the Belgian team in the LMGT3 category on a BMW M4 GT3 sports car.
But eight WEC rounds, the first of which will take place in early March in Bahrain, are not enough for Rossi and his team, so they decided to start the season with Australia’s famous Bathurst 12 Hours at Mount Panorama.
These competitions will be held from February 16 to 18, and on February 16 Rossi will celebrate his 45th birthday, which will become a kind of symbol of a long racing life, because the international career of Rossi, nicknamed ‘The Doctor’, began almost 30 years ago and still continues.
Vale won its first world title in 1997, then in the 125cc class, and years later he is still competing in the world championship, albeit in a very different way, and on four wheels instead of two.
For example, BMW with license plate 46, under which Rossi also competed in the MotoGP, will appear at the start in Bathurst in February. Valentino’s partners are his compatriot Raffaele Marchiello and the Belgian Maxime Martin.
Rossi’s Bathurst debut took place a year ago, but then his team had bad luck: late in the race, his BMW developed problems with the electrical system, forcing them to make an extra pit stop to repair it. Because of this, Valentino and his teammates missed the opportunity to reach the podium and took 4th place. Of course, they are now determined to win back.
