Less than three weeks until the very first Formula 1 Grand Prix of Miami. Stage organizers reported that construction work on the track is 95% complete.
The final layer of asphalt was laid in March, construction work on the permanent facilities has been completed and the time remaining is to complete the installation of temporary structures in the fan entertainment area, paint the curbs and install temporary safety barriers.
Richard Cregan, Chief Executive of the Miami Grand Prix: “We are in the final stages of building a circuit that will host the first-ever Formula 1 race in Miami.
We are pleased with the work done and would like to thank everyone in Miami, in Formula 1 and the FIA for the incredible effort in getting the track finished in such a short time. Our job was to build a circuit that will appeal to the riders and create a unique entertainment area for the fans.
We have not compromised on any aspect of design and construction. I have years of experience with other new circuits and have never seen the effort Miami has to put in to make sure everything is done perfectly and exactly as it is designed. Everyone involved in the build did a fantastic job.”
