In Osaka, Japan, they announced that they want to organize a Formula 1 race. The project is implemented by the local Tourism Board with the support of the prefectural governor.
Local authorities want to coordinate the hosting of the Formula 1 podium with the Osaka/Kansai Expo international exhibition, scheduled for 2025. Organizers hope that hosting the exhibition and Osaka’s Formula 1 podium will become an international tourism center to make.
There is no stationary circuit in Osaka where a Formula 1 round can take place, so there are plans to hold races on a city circuit built along the public road. The Osaka Tourism Bureau has not provided any further details, nor is the response from Formula 1 officials known.
The contract for the Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit runs until 2024. In the new season, the Japanese phase of the championship has been moved from autumn to spring – the race in Suzuka is scheduled for April 7.
