We’ve already discussed the Mercedes team’s plans to expand its base in Brackley. Plans to expand the base were formally approved by West Northamptonshire Council this week.
The Formula 1 team expects to expand the number of employees from 1,400 to 1,900 and this will require a new building, with an emphasis on environmental friendliness during construction. Local small businesses initially opposed the base expansion, but the strategic planning committee approved the Mercedes project.
Team boss Toto Wolff previously said that the expansion of the base is in the interest of the employees: “In our case, the content dictates the form, and not the other way around. We make every effort to create ideal conditions for work and leisure.
We want our base to be a small town, with all the amenities and benefits that come with a Silicon Valley-style work environment.
