The Williams team has announced two new members of its Racing Academy. They were 17-year-old French racer Alessandro Gusti and 13-year-old Japanese kart driver Sarah Matsui.
Last season, Gusti competed in the FRECA series, scoring three wins, four podium finishes and finishing sixth in the individual competition. In 2024, Alessandro will continue to compete in FRECA for the ART Grand Prix team.
Sara Matsui will continue to compete in various karting championships in the new season and will become a participant in the Champions of the Future Academy series, which is supported by the F1 Academy.
Sven Smits, Sports Director, Williams Racing: “We are delighted to welcome Alessandro and Sara as new members of the Williams Racing Academy. Alessando showed excellent driving skills in French Formula 4 and FRECA last year.
Sarah is one of the rising stars of karting. She has shown encouraging results at home in Japan and is a finalist for Girls on Track Rising Star in 2022. We will support Alessandro and Saru’s development in 2024 and beyond.”
