James Vowles believes Alex Albon has championship skills. The head of the Williams team noted that Alex has improved significantly over the past year and that he will be able to achieve a lot behind the wheel of a fast car.
James Vowles: “The Alex of today is different to the Alex we saw at Red Bull and even the Alex we saw at the start of last season. He didn’t have self-confidence, but now he has it. Alex is happy, he feels like a leader of the team and he has gained confidence that allows him to work methodically and provide direction.
It sounds simple, but in reality, everything that seems simple is actually the hardest. You never know how good one driver is compared to another until you put him behind the wheel of the same car. If other drivers get behind the wheel of Williams tomorrow, they will probably have a very difficult time.
I know Alex gets the most out of the car every time. Whenever he is under pressure, he handles the pressure. He knows how to find an approach for a car that is difficult to drive. And this experience will give him an advantage in the future. I believe that Alex has the qualities to one day become a champion. I really think so.”
