During Guanyu Zhou’s crash at the start of the British Grand Prix, the Alfa Romeo C42’s top roll bar collapsed and only the Halo guard saved the Chinese driver.
At Thursday’s meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), which includes representatives from the FIA, Formula 1 and technical directors from ten teams, new measures were agreed that are designed to strengthen the top roll bar to provide a more reliable protection in the event of a recurrence of such incidents.
“The Advisory Technical Committee has discussed the serious incident involving Guanyu Zhou at Silverstone,” the statement said. – The teams confirmed their willingness to introduce more serious requirements for rollovers in 2023. In turn, the FIA will complete the relevant analysis and bring the teams new requirements for safety arcs.
