Max Verstappen won the iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona virtual marathon in the GTD class. The three-time world champion of course competed for his team Team Redline, and his teammates in crew number 69 were German cyber racing master Ole Steinbraten and Italian Gianni Vecchio.
Verstappen’s virtual Mercedes AMG sports car took the lead overnight before a dangerous incident occurred where there was contact between two Team Redline cars, but ultimately Max and his teammates took the race to victory.
The team’s success was consolidated by the second Redline squad – which took 3rd place in the class.
In a few days, on January 23, Max will participate in the virtual race again. This time he will appear at the start of one of the stages of the Real Racers Never Quit championship organized by him. He will first drive a Formula 3 car at Silverstone and then get behind the wheel of an F4 car at Imola.
Perhaps this is one of the secrets of Verstappen’s skill: that even on holiday he pays so much attention to races, albeit virtual ones.
