Madrid authorities are criticizing the country’s government over F1

The Spanish press continues to remind us that an official announcement will be made in the coming days about the holding of the Formula 1 race in Madrid. At the same time, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, in an interview with the newspaper El Mundo, raised a number of important issues related to this project, including criticizing the Spanish government for its unwillingness to at least some support.

She also tried to emphasize that the very likely prospects for the Madrid Grand Prix and the no less likely separation of Formula 1 from the Barcelona circuit are two different issues.

“Whether or not Formula 1 splits with Barcelona has nothing to do with Madrid,” Ayuso said. – If something is currently threatening the national scene, I would prefer it to be held in Madrid or in another region of Spain than if it were not to take place at all.

I hope everyone will be happy for Madrid, because we also have the right to receive investments even if the country’s government does not help us. We have already reached the point where I have simply stopped looking for help – Madrid will have to go it alone.

The government knows this because many of its representatives took part in the negotiations, but on their part I did not see the slightest interest in supporting us. Relations between the authorities of the city and the country are not at the best moment at the moment… But I hope that the best Formula 1 race will take place in Madrid.”
