Former Formula 1 driver Christian Albers has suggested that Daniel Ricciardo will replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing in the coming season. The Australian’s return to Red Bull Racing opens a vacancy at AlphaTauri, which will most likely be filled by Liam Lawson.
Christian Albers: “Personally, I think it is a great shame that Liam has not received a contract for this season. Last year he replaced the injured Daniel Ricciardo and performed excellently on all five weekends. I think Lawson deserves his chance, especially at AlphaTauri, which helps young drivers. Too bad he didn’t get a contract!
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the chance to drive in 2024. If Sergio Perez continues to perform as he did last year, there is a good chance that Red Bull will replace him with Ricciardo. But on the condition that Daniel shows himself well. And then a place becomes available for Lawson at AlphaTauri.
Perez can now be especially happy that he has extended his contract for two years in 2022.”
