Verstappen told how he got his driver’s license

Max Verstappen made his Formula 1 debut at the age of 17, when he did not yet have a driver’s license. When he came of age, Max received the coveted documents, but he never talked about how the exam took place.

In an interview with The Times, the now three-time world champion recalled arguing with the inspector during the exam: “He told me to turn right, but I turned left instead. I also did not give way to a zebra crossing.

The examiner was very dissatisfied with this, but I objected to him: “There is no one at the intersection, why should I stop?”

In fact, I was lucky enough to pass the exam on the first try. It would be very annoying if I didn’t do this. I think the inspector was nice to me.”

In response to a question about Formula 1, in particular the battle with Lewis Hamilton, Max admitted that he is not looking for on-track confrontations with the seven-time world champion: “I don’t need such a rivalry. Of course we want to be ahead of each other, but in private we communicate with him like normal people.”

Speaking about the chances of matching Hamilton’s number of titles, Max said: “If it happens, so be it. But you need luck to have the best car at your disposal for so many years. Racers are very dependent on the technology they have at their disposal.

When I won the first title, I said that all future victories are a bonus, because I had already achieved everything I wanted in Formula 1. I have podiums, poles, titles. Right now I’m just trying to stay on top.”
