Last fall, a large-scale reconstruction of the Hungaroring, the circuit where the Hungarian Grand Prix has been held since 1986, began. We told you that work was already underway in October, and today the press service of the route, located just 25 km from the center of Budapest, shared an interesting video recording from a bird’s eye view.
These images give a good idea of the extent of the reconstruction, which has been divided into several phases, and when completed the circuit will fully comply with the standards of modern Formula 1.
Some statistics have already been provided characterizing the scale of the work done: 20,000 cubic meters were moved. meters of soil, concrete structures with a total volume of 5,000 cubic meters were demolished, about 800 wells were drilled for piles and more than 345 tons of steel reinforcement were delivered to the construction site for further work.
Last summer, the Hungaroring’s contract with Formula 1, which runs until 2027, was extended for a further five years – provided the Hungarian side carries out the promised modernization of the circuit, it will host the Grand Prix until 2032.
