Aston Martin boss Mike Krak has repeatedly said that working with Fernando Alonso has had a positive impact on the team. According to Krak, the two-time Formula 1 champion’s energy and enthusiasm radiated through the staff, allowing them to achieve more.
Mike Krak: “Many drivers move to smaller teams to finish their careers, but that was not the case with Fernando. We saw a completely opposite approach. It felt like we were being represented by a driver who was in his first season. He was full of energy and pushed not only us, but himself.
Fernando was an example to everyone. For example, he was the first to show up at the office. You come in the morning and Fernando is already there and jokes: “Good afternoon guys.” With his personal example he influences the team and drives them forward. This has made us a better team than twelve months ago.
This is of course not only the merit of Alonso, but also of everyone else. However, thanks to Fernando we have improved much more than we would have improved if he had not been in the team.”
