In 2017, Mercedes introduced the Project One hypercar, which eventually went into small-scale production under the name Mercedes-AMG ONE. Lewis Hamilton took part in refining the car; only 275 copies will see the light of day and each cost £2.4 million.
The car turned out to be truly unique: the hypercar is equipped with a hybrid power plant, similar to that in Formula 1 cars. It is based on a V6 turbo engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters and a power of 574 hp. The total power of the power plant, together with the hybrid part, which consists of 4 electric motors, exceeds 1000 hp. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and the top speed is 352 km/h.
Owners of a Mercedes-AMG ONE include Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Valtteri Bottas and David Coulthard. Former Formula 1 driver Christian Albers recently became the owner of a hypercar.
“I ordered my copy more than six years ago and now it is finally ready,” says Albers. – This is a unique project and I don’t think a similar machine will ever be built again. Thanks to the hybrid system and electric motors, it fits into modern environmental trends.
The car is equipped with a Formula 1 engine and has enormous downforce. Let’s just say it’s not for everyday driving.
Of course it cost me a lot of money. But as a former Formula 1 driver, to get the chance to drive a Formula 1 car… There was no other opportunity like this, so I grabbed it with both hands.”
