In Melbourne, spectators are no longer allowed on the track after the finish

Last year, a dangerous incident occurred during the Australian Grand Prix, prompting the FIA to launch an investigation against the stage’s organizers.

The point is that a group of spectators managed to break the security lines and enter the track while the race was still in progress. Anticipated safety measures and protocols were not implemented, exposing spectators, drivers and race personnel to unsafe conditions.

In addition, spectators were also able to reach car No. 27, parked at the exit of Turn 2, while the red light was still flashing (i.e. the car was in unsafe conditions and an electric shock was possible). All this posed a serious danger to spectators, racers and employees working at the race.

The FIA investigation has still not been completed and the promoters of the Australian Grand Prix have therefore decided that spectators will no longer be allowed onto the track after the finish of the race this year.

“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation, the event’s promoter, advises that in light of the ongoing investigation by the FIA into track entry offenses during the 2023 race, it has been decided that spectators will not be permitted entry to the circuit after the finish of the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. – the published message said. “A decision on spectator access to the circuit after the finish of other races will be made later.”

This year the Australian Grand Prix will be held from March 22 to 24 in Albert Park.
