Nikita Mazepin and his co-driver Anton Vlasyuk won the Silk Way rally raid in the all-terrain vehicle (T3) class – for the former Haas F1 driver, this is his first achievement in the new motorsport category.
Nikita raced for Snag Racing in a Can-Am car prepared by this Yekaterinburg team. She has extensive experience of participating in such competitions, including at the highest level, such as Dakar. And Nikita, although he spent last season in Formula 1 in a team that closed the pack most often, in many ways he improved his professional skills and improved his physical training – presumably all this was useful to him now.
Significantly, Mazepin was ahead of even Sergey Karyakin himself, the founder and head of the Snag Racing Team, and after completing today’s final section, he commented: “We couldn’t get a little closer, because we ran into Kamaz, what does not let us through. But that means it is necessary. The most important is the result of Nikita! First time – first place! I am very proud of Nikita and Anton.”
