A day earlier, Ferrari announced the extension of the contract with Charles Leclerc. The team has not disclosed the duration of the new agreement, but the Italian press assures that we are talking about five seasons.
Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz’s contract expires at the end of 2024 and the Spaniard has repeatedly said he wants to decide his plans for the future before the start of this season. La Repubblica assures that Ferrari has offered Carlos a new two-year contract, which will be signed in the near future.
Another Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, has slightly different information. It is reported that the parties have not yet reached an agreement and Ferrari is prepared to invite another driver to take Carlos Sainz’s place. The list of replacement candidates includes Alex Albon, Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly.
Albon and Gasly’s contracts with Williams and Alpine respectively expire at the end of 2024. As for Lando Norris, his contract with McLaren runs until the end of 2025, so of the three candidates mentioned, the Brit seems the least likely.
