Filming in Daytona leads to dissatisfaction among racers

This weekend in Florida, the 24 Hours of Daytona, America’s most prestigious endurance race, takes place at the Daytona International Speedway, and we were talking about a Formula 1 movie filming going ahead there.

But it turned out that the proximity of a Hollywood film crew causes certain inconveniences for the racers participating in the marathon. This is partly due to the increased security measures in place in the parking lot where Brad Pitt’s personal camper is located.

For example, Scott McLaughlin, an IndyCar star, complained that he was not allowed into his camper because he did not have a pass. Of course he made a mistake, but racers of his level are known by sight on all race tracks in America, and usually such problems do not arise. Moreover, he returned to the camper from the pits wearing a racing suit…

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace complained that he and many other drivers did not have to leave their RV in the usual parking lot, but in an open parking lot. In addition, many participants of the Daytona Marathon complained that they could not get enough sleep in the days, or rather nights, leading up to the start, because the filming process on the track continued around the clock, and at least there were six cars at all times on the road.

However, Jenson Button did not exaggerate these inconveniences: “The race in Daytona promises to be incredibly interesting, and lack of sleep is the only problem. I think we’re doing well. And more attention is paid to the race because Brad Pitt is here at the track.”
