Won’t Hinwil team up with Bottas and Zhou in 2025?

Swiss tabloid Blick, which is usually well informed about what happens behind the closed doors of Sauber Motorsport’s base in Hinwil, claims that the team will not renew the contracts of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou before 2025.

We quote: “The renewed team has absolutely no intention of starting the 2025 season with Bottas and Zhou.”

We are talking about this in the context of the recent news that Ferrari has signed a new multi-year contract with Charles Leclerc, while the question of the future fate of Carlos Sainz still remains open.

Blick comes up with its own version of the answer, suggesting that Carlos could already inform the Scuderia that he will be invited to the future Audi factory team, which will be created on the basis of the Swiss Sauber.

The newspaper does not give any new arguments in favor of its version, but recalls that there are long-standing and fairly close contacts between the family of the Spanish racer and Andreas Seidl, executive director of the Sauber Group.

This was indirectly confirmed by Carlos Sainz Sr. after his recent victory in the Dakar rally raid with an Audi racing SUV, and we quoted his words. He then said: “I am part of the Audi family, and it is clear that at home we talk about Audi and what this company can achieve in the future.”

In the meantime, Bottas and Zhou are preparing for the new season in the team, which we recently called Alfa Romeo, but in 2024 the sign changed and apparently with it the company colors. We’ll find out pretty soon what results Stake will be capable of in the coming season.
