After securing the backing of General Motors and receiving the green light from the FIA in October for the right to compete in Formula 1, Andretti Cadillac began preparing for its debut, but was denied yesterday by the championship management. Andretti Cadillac is disappointed with this decision.
‘I’m devastated. There are simply no other words now,” Mario Andretti wrote on social networks.
The team later released a brief official statement: “Andretti Cadillac has reviewed the information provided by Formula One Management Limited and strongly disagrees with its contents.
Andretti and Cadillac are two successful international motorsports organizations committed to creating a true American Formula 1 team that competes with the best in the world.
We are proud of the significant progress we have already made in developing a competitive vehicle and powertrain with an experienced workforce. This work continues at the same pace.
“In addition, Andretti Cadillac expresses its appreciation and thanks to the fans who have supported us.”
