The European press is discussing the reasons for Lewis Hamilton’s possible move to Ferrari, and one of them is the famous engineer Loïc Serra.
While at Mercedes, Serra disagreed with the direction Mike Elliott was taking for the highly unsuccessful W13 and W14. Serra was then lured to Ferrari, where he will start from January 1, 2025, unless the two teams can agree on an early end to the mandatory holiday.
At the end of 2023, Lewis told reporters: “I told the team about the problems with the car last year. You know, I’ve driven a lot of race cars and I know well what a car needs and what it doesn’t need. I think this is about responsibility, about giving in and saying, “Yes, we didn’t listen to you, we had to go in a different direction, and now we have to work.”
When Serra accepted the offer to move to Ferrari, James Allison was sent back to Mercedes. Together with Mike, a number of other strong specialists switched to the Scuderia. The coming days will show how the situation will develop.
