“Everyone wants to win, but when your partner wins, you have to give them the credit. It means they performed better than you. You have to accept and in some sense be proud of what your partner has I think very few people can accept it. But between me and Verstappen, there is no envy. We are proud of each other’s success,” Perez said.
In the 2021 season, Max Verstappen became Formula 1 world champion for the first time in his career. After 11 races in the 2022 season, Verstappen leads the drivers standings with 208 points. Sergio Perez is in third place with 151 points. Second place went to Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc (170 points).
