The organizers of the Japanese Grand Prix announced the extension of the contract with Formula 1. Suzuka will continue to host stages of the World Championship through 2029.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1: “Suzuka is a special track that has become an integral part of our sport, so I am pleased that it will continue to host Formula 1 races until at least 2029.
We’re returning to Japan earlier than normal this year, so I’d like to say a huge thank you to the promoter and Honda MobilityLand for supporting our efforts to put together a smarter version of the calendar as part of our commitment to making the sport more sustainable.
Our fans in Japan have a unique passion for Formula 1 and we look forward to continuing to work with the promoter to give fans the experience they deserve.”
Plans to organize the Japanese Grand Prix were previously discussed in Osaka, but Formula 1 decided to continue the collaboration with Suzuka. This year, the Japanese leg of the championship will be held from April 5 to 7.
