Valtteri Bottas spent five seasons with the Mercedes team and finished second in the individual standings twice, in 2019 and 2020. At the end of 2021, the championship team decided to end its partnership with the Finn and invite George Russell to replace him, but following Lewis Hamilton’s decision to move to Ferrari, Valtteri may return to Mercedes.
Bottas’ contract with Stake expires at the end of 2024. Finn has repeatedly said he wants to continue the partnership and compete with the team in 2026, when it becomes an Audi works team, but it seems the management in Hinwil has other plans.
Recently, Valtteri posted a short video on social networks of himself playing darts in a British pub. There’s nothing notable about the video itself, other than the date and geotag: January 31, Brackley. Mercedes’ base is in Brackley, and on this day the team management was probably already aware of Lewis Hamilton’s future plans, so Bottas’ appearance in these places could be more than just a coincidence.
The next day, after the press reported Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, Valtteri published another photo of himself sitting at a table with a mobile phone directly in front of him. If you want, you can see in this photo a hint that Valtteri is waiting for an important call. But will Toto call Wolff?
