Mercedes driver George Russell reacted to the news that from 2025 his teammate Lewis Hamilton will compete for Ferrari.
On Thursday, Mercedes announced that the seven-time world champion had decided to leave the team at the end of the 2024 season.
— Lewis, I did a special race with you. Let’s make this season unforgettable,” Russell wrote on social media.
Hamilton, 39, is one of Formula 1’s most decorated drivers. He won seven championship titles, equaling Michael Schumacher’s record. Hamilton is also the first driver in history to achieve 100 or more victories (103).
In Formula 1, the Briton drove for McLaren from 2007 to 2012, and since 2013 he has been a driver for the Mercedes team. He won his first title in 2008 and won the other six titles with the German team.
The new Formula 1 season begins on March 1 in Bahrain.
