Last Wednesday it was announced that Formula 1 had officially rejected Andretti Cadillac’s bid to participate in the world championship in 2025 or 2026. In particular, Formula 1 management’s official statement on the subject stated:
“Because we had the opportunity to discuss the applicant’s response, together with our own considerations, we wrote to the applicant on December 12 inviting him to a personal meeting at our office, but the applicant did not respond to this offer. ”
Andretti Cadillac does not hide its dissatisfaction with the refusal, but a little later they also commented on certain provisions of the text of the official statement of Formula 1, emphasizing that they were not aware of the proposal to remove the said “personal meeting” at all.
As the American team explained yesterday, the letter sent to them by email was not written by Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali, but by one of the FOM employees, originating from his address and ending up in the Spam folder.
“We were not aware that the proposal for such a meeting had been extended and did not refuse a meeting with Formula 1 management,” the Associated Press agency quoted the team as saying. “Such a personal meeting to discuss commercial issues was and remains extremely important for Andretti Cadillac.
We are prepared to enter into discussions with FOM and have sent them written confirmation of our interest. Our work on the project continues at the same pace.”
How Formula 1 responded to Andretti Cadillac’s new statement and whether they responded at all is still unknown.
