Williams team boss James Vowles has denied rumors that Alex Albon could move to Mercedes or Red Bull next year…
James Vowles: “Alex has a contract with Williams until the end of 2025. Any reports you see about his move, and one in particular, are speculative.
Everyone’s job at Williams is to create an environment that suits a driver of Alex’s caliber. I’ve said it from the start and I’ll say it again: he is an incredible driver who deserves the right to fight on the front row. He is in no way inferior to other champions I have worked with before.
Alex and I had a good conversation about how we were going to proceed. We look forward to a long-term future and understand that the team must earn this right. We want to prove to the whole world that this is not the Williams that has been standing still for years, but that we are constantly moving forward.
Would I stand in his way if he got such an offer? I have a responsibility to Williams. This is not the responsibility of one person, in this case Alex, it is a team responsibility. So if a decision is made, it will only be because I clearly understand that it is in the long-term interest of the team.”
