Fernando Alonso to negotiate contract in August

Fernando Alonso’s contract with Alpine expires at the end of the season. The Spanish rider expects to continue the collaboration and plans to negotiate a new contract with the team management during the August break.

“There are no guarantees that I will stay, but we have to agree something during the summer holidays,” Racingnews365 quoted Fernando Alonso. “In the coming weeks, we will look together with the team to see what their expectations are, what the next step in our project will be.

Everything suits me, I feel at home in Alpine, but it is clear that there are no guarantees now.

Speaking about the current situation in the championship, Fernando noted that the team is not yet able to fight for places in the top three: “I don’t think it will be easy for us to overtake Mercedes. They have a huge organization, but we know that sooner or later we will reach their level. For us this is more of a medium or even long term perspective.

It is important to start next year’s car as early as possible so as not to jeopardize the project. Leading teams can work on a new car while refining the current one, but it’s quite difficult for others to do this.
