The McLaren team is preparing for the upcoming French Grand Prix, hoping to continue the series of productive races and hoping to perform no worse than last year at Le Castellet.
Lando Norris: “The championship summer break is fast approaching and it is important for us to continue to show good results as the battle escalates in the middle of the pack. It’s good that we finished 7th and 9th in Austria after a difficult start to the weekend, and it’s great that the team is still fighting for 4th place in the Constructors’ Championship.
In France, the weekend will again be run according to the standard program, which gives us the opportunity to gradually increase the speed during the training sessions, which was not the case in Austria, as there was a sprint on Saturday. We still have a lot of work to do, but we will continue to attack on track to earn more points, like we did at Circuit Paul Ricard last year.”
Daniel Ricardo: “I’m already looking forward to the French Grand Prix in Le Castellet this weekend. There are long straights on this track, as well as interesting corners, for example the 11th, where serious physical exertion awaits us.
At this stage of the season it is important to have consistently good results and I am happy to have returned to the top ten in Austria. We will continue to work hard to build on the momentum and try to earn more points in France before moving on to Hungary as these two stages are only a week apart.
Andreas SeidliTeam Principal: “After the first half of the season and after a good result in Austria, where both riders earned points, the whole team is working hard to continue the series of positive performances in France and Hungary.
In Le Castellet there are opportunities to fight on the track, and last year our team had good results at the French Grand Prix, Lando then finished 5th, Daniel – 6th.
A distinguishing feature of the track is the long straight Mistral, but there are also difficult corners, including 8th and 9th, which it is important to get right in order to successfully overcome the 10th and 11th corners.
As always, the team is determined to get the best possible results for the race in Hungary, after which there will be a summer break.
