The organizers of the British Grand Prix announced a ten-year extension of the contract with Formula 1. The Silverstone circuit will continue to host stages of the World Championship until 2034.
Stuart Pringle, Managing Director of Silverstone: “This long-term contract shows how important the British Grand Prix is to Formula 1 and is a recognition of our ability to deliver a world-class event for the British fans. The support of the spectators in the stands for the British teams and especially the British drivers makes the atmosphere at Silverstone unique.
We look forward to taking our stage organization to the next level in the coming decade.”
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1: “I am pleased to announce that this agreement will keep the British Grand Prix on the calendar for another ten years. Silverstone is an iconic circuit at the heart of Formula 1 history, and as it approaches its ninth decade of Grand Prix events, the circuit continues to attract fans from all over the world.
I would like to thank Stuart Pringle and his entire team for their dedication and hard work in taking the British Grand Prix to the next level. I look forward to continuing to work closely together over the next decade as Silverstone strives to further enhance the fan experience and experience.”
The Silverstone circuit hosted the very first Formula 1 race, which took place on May 13, 1950. According to informed sources, the promotional fee for the right to host the Grand Prix under the new contract will be 30 million pounds sterling per year.
