The first session of winter testing in Formula 2 starts on Sunday evening at the Bahrain circuit in Sakhir, but Formula 3 teams have already started working on the circuit in the morning. It is strange that today it rained in the middle of the desert. so everyone needed tires with blue markings.
The pre-season testing in this youth series will take place in parallel with F2, but on a different schedule, and on each of the three days the F3 teams will spend five hours on track. The morning session starts at 9am and lasts until 11.30am, but if work continues at 1.30pm this afternoon and ends at 4pm, the two-hour afternoon session will run from 2.30pm to 5pm on Monday and Tuesday.
This year there are even more newcomers in Formula 3 than in F2 – there are 17 such drivers, but there are also more participants in this series. The only team without debutants is Spain’s Campos Racing, where all three drivers have experience in F3 – we are talking about Oliver Goethe, Marie Boe and Sebastian Montoya.
The youngest participant in the tests and therefore the coming season, the British Arvid Lindblad, is only 16 years old, but he has already achieved such a serious feat as winning last year’s Formula 4 race in Macau. A year ago he was accepted into Red Bull’s youth program and made his F3 debut with the Italian team Prema Racing.
