Jos Verstappen took part in the Route du Nord rally in northern France last weekend and took second place, just 8.2 seconds behind the winner.
We already told you last year that the father of the three-time world champion has mastered a new racing discipline, but now Jos has the most serious intentions and will spend a full season in rallying in 2024.
The Route du Nord is one of the stages of the French Cup, and Verstappen Sr. drove a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, and if you look at the comments from the fans, the way he drove made a very strong impression on the public.
“This was my first rally this season and we took full advantage of it to prepare for the program planned for 2024,” Jos told Verstappen.com. “The track was new to me and the surface was very slippery due to the rain. But of course everyone was on equal footing.
The more rallies I do, the more coordinated the interaction with Renault Jamul, my co-driver, will be. We started well and the race was fun for me.”
Jos even set the best time in five of the twelve special stages, which suggests that the former Formula 1 driver has not yet lost his talent for speed at the age of 51.
