At the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain the last day of pre-season testing for Formula 3 ended. As on previous days, the drivers shared the track with the Formula 2 competitors, so the work was divided into morning and afternoon sessions.
In the morning Luke Browning immediately set a benchmark and completed a lap in 1:46.991 seconds, half a second ahead of his closest pursuer Alex Dunne. The work was soon interrupted by red flags after Kean Shields stopped off track on the main straight.
Once the car was removed from the Hitech driver, testing continued. The young drivers were working according to their program when double yellow flags appeared on the track shortly before the end of time due to Nikola Tsolov’s stop in turn nine.
After the green flags returned to the track, Browning posted the best time: 1:46.566 seconds. Luke, like Joshua Dufek, rode the longest distance: 35 laps.
After the break, the riders returned to the track for a three-hour afternoon session. The drivers concentrated on working long sets of laps, so no one set record times. The work was once interrupted by red flags because Dufek stopped exiting the first corner.
At the end of the session the drivers completed a number of fast laps, with Swedish Prema driver Dino Beganovic being the fastest. Leonardo Fornaroli drove the longest distance: 47 laps.
The next time Formula 3 drivers take to the track is in two and a half weeks, during the first round of the season in Bahrain.
