After presenting the new car, Ferrari drove it in Fiorano as part of the filming day – and Charles Leclerc was pleased with his feelings.
Charles Leclerc: “I remember that after the first lap last year, or after a few laps, I was not very happy with the car’s behavior. It turned out to be very, very difficult to manage. Now this problem does not exist. The car behaves much better.
However, this does not mean that it has competitiveness. Our rivals have also taken a step forward and if their cars are faster, we will have to work on speed. Nowadays there are many technologies available to increase downforce. And engineers are constantly working on this.
The 2023 car was extremely sensitive to changes in wind direction and external conditions. This made it very difficult for us to get the best out of it, because as soon as one of these elements changed slightly, the car behaved very differently. And we have worked seriously on that.
Judging from the work on the simulator, we have made a big step forward, but we will not jump to conclusions. I’ve only done a few laps on the real circuit so far, but the car was covered in cameras and I didn’t attack.”
