Kevin Magnussen: The more races, the better

Haas hasn’t updated the car for a long time, but Kevin Magnussen said the upcoming round in France will be the last the team will spend without new products.

Q: How can you characterize the French circuit Paul Ricard?
Kevin Magnussen: France has quite a unique track because it is very flat, wide and with large safety zones. Piloting on Paul Ricard is different from piloting on other routes.

In 2018 we managed to achieve a good result. It’s nice to come back to where we’ve done well in the past, so now I’m hoping for a good result too.

Q: You haven’t performed with Paul Ricard in several years. How careful are you during the first workout?
Kevin Magnussen: It has indeed been a while since I raced in Formula 1 on this track, so the first session will have to find the rhythm. However, taking into account the wide safety zones, there is no serious risk here, so you can start attacking from the very first circles. This is what I will do.

Q: Do you think you can unleash the full potential of the VF-22 on the podium in France?
Kevin Magnussen: Probably the last race with the car in the current configuration before we present the updates. Obviously we get to know the car better with each race, so the opportunities to add are getting smaller with each stage. However, we continue to look for ways to get the most out of the car.

Question Behind half of the four-race series in July. How hard is it to keep fit in this mode?
Kevin MagnussenA: At this stage, for my fitness, the more races the better. At the gym I feel I’m in good shape, but when I get behind the wheel I understand that the neck is only 80% ready for stress. Many races in a row strengthen the neck.
